Almost all refrigeration equipment relies on two key heat exchange components:Condenser and Evaporator.

They look similar but work in opposite ways. Here is a simple and clear explanation..

Evaporator — The Cold Side (Heat Absorption)

The evaporator is the cooling part of the system.

Liquid refrigerant turns into gas inside the evaporator. During this process, it absorbs surrounding heat and lowers the ambient temperature.

  • Refrigerant state: Liquid → Gas

  • Function: Absorb heat / Produce cold

  • Temperature: Cold

  • Common location: Indoor unit, cold room

Condenser — The Hot Side (Heat Rejection)

The condenser acts as the heat dissipation part.

Hot gaseous refrigerant cools down and changes back into liquid. It releases internal heat to the outside air.

  • Refrigerant state: Gas → Liquid

  • Function: Release heat / Dissipate heat

  • Temperature: Hot

  • Common location: Outdoor unit, cooling section
